He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Doc Merritt and Dorothy Birks; his wife Barbara; his daughter Chelsie; his son-in-law Ryan Richard; his children, Lindsey Robinson, John Birks and Kendra; his son-in-law Thomas Boyd; his grandchildren, Dylan, Presli Robinson, Emma and Harris Boyd; and his siblings, Mike, John Birks, Brenda Sanford and Barb Mueltner. He was also cherished by siblings, nieces, and nephews.
