William Randolph Groves Obituary

Sherman, TX- William Randolph Groves was born Wednesday, September 18th, 1957 to Bill and Sarah (Vaughn) Groves in Springdale, Arkansas and passed from this life on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 in Denison, Texas at the age of 66.

Randy married the love of his life, Sherry Loyd, on August 18, 1978 and was happily married for 45 years. Randy was very active for the Lord and was a Pastor and Music Minister throughout his life. He was a veteran and served his country with the United States Air Force. In addition to his church activities, he held various positions in the insurance industry.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and his parents in-law, Charles and Alta Loyd.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Sherman, Texas, and their son, Eric Groves and wife Mary of Arlington, Texas; his siblings, Charles Groves and wife Margaret of Mobile, Alabama, Cynthia Patterson and husband Steve of Snellville, Georgia, John Groves and wife MaryNell of Springdale, Arkansas, and Larry Groves and wife Sharon of Wooster, Ohio. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Randy Loyd and wife Mary of Grapevine, Texas, and Mike Loyd of Unicoi, Tennessee, plus a host of extended family and friends.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at Brown's Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Bro. Steve Rice officiating. Committal services will follow at Highland Cemetery pavilion with Nick Loyd, David Hutchason, Dakota Jenkins, Mike Loyd, Jason Kramer, and Jeff St. Clair serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive and greet friends one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
