He was predeceased by: his parents, D. A. Pate and Inez Pate; his siblings, Joe, Billy and Betty; and his children, Valisha and John.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Lehtinen of Sherman; and his brother Dan of Bonham. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
