He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert I. Thomas Jr. and Letha Faye Waters Thomas; his sister Lorna Murray; and his wife Joey Thomas. He is survived by: his former wife Jodeen Thomas; his daughters, Shawnna Cox (Glenn Cox) and Sky Thomas; and his grandchildren, Thomas Cox, Macy Thomas and Charles Cox.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Pace-Stancil Chapel (303 E Crockett St, Cleveland, TX 77327).

After a long battle with Parkinson's, he is rejoicing with his family that was waiting for him.
