She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thorn and Elam Thorn of Nevada; her husband James Sturgeon; her son Thomas J. "T. J." Sturgeon; and her brothers, Wesley Thorn, Roy Thorn and J. D. Thorn.

She is survived by: her daughters, Cynthia White of Wichita Falls and Mitzi Torrez of Seymour; and her brother Jerry Thorn of Seymour. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
