He is survived by: his wife Melinda Mertz Villareal; his children, Adrian Mertz, Leticia Mertz (Javier) and Christopher Mertz; his uncle Pete; his aunt Ruth; and also, Oscar Villareal (Diane), Stephen Villareal (Margie), Abel Villareal (Maria), Ruben Villareal (Alma), Rosa Villareal Sepulveda (Irineo), JoAnn Villareal Casarez (Julian), Gloria Villareal Macias (Louie), Cynthia Villareal Rojas (Willie), Sylvia Villareal McPhail (Michael), Norma Villareal Camarillo (Joel) and Elizabeth Villareal Gomez (Mario Sr.). He is also survived by 51 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren, and 40 great-great grandchildren; along with his 7 half-sisters and 3 half-brothers.
