He was predeceased by: his wife Manuela Rangel; his sons, Raymond "Moe" Rangel, Ernest "Neto" Rangel, Raul "Gully" Rangel and Abel Jr. (Minerva Rangel); his daughter-in-law Minerva Rangel (Abel Jr.); his grandsons, Michael Rangel and David "Black Duck" Rangel; and his great grandchild Giovanni Zane Davila.

He is survived by: his children, Robert (Dolores Rangel), Dorelia (Oscar Martinez), Norma (Ben Davila), Erma D. Rangel, Yolanda "Deedee" Rangel and Adela Rangel; and his daughters-in-law, Adela Rangel, Yolanda "Deedee" Rangel, Erma D. Rangel, Norma (Ben Davila) and Dorelia (Oscar Martinez). He is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Palmer Mortuary & Cremations (1116 N Austin St, Seguin, TX 78155). A rosary was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (409 W Krezdorn St, Seguin, TX 78155). A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery W Walnut (409 W Krezdorn St, Seguin, TX 78155).
