He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Schmidt and Adelia Schmidt (Froehlich); his sister Virginia Green; and his brothers-in-law, E. T. Green and Gary Allred.
He is survived by: his son James Schmidt; his wife Patricia Schmidt; his sons, Joseph Schmidt (Donna Hajdik), Jerry Schmidt (Melissa Orsak) and Jeffrey Schmidt; his grandchildren, Kevin Schmidt, Tammy Diaz (Eli), Beth Nanson (Nathan) and Kayleigh Schmidt; and his great grandchildren, Paislee Grace Vital and Eric Joseph Diaz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy.
