He was predeceased by: his parents, Eudell Ayres and Joe Ayres. He is survived by: his wife Claudine; his sister Ruth Ann; and his children, James Ayres (Jenni), Ashley McAuliffe (Tim) and Jody Childs (Matt). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
