It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha Gilbert of Scurry, Texas, born in San Antonio, Texas, who passed away on July 23, 2021, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Fowler and Lula Fowler (Whitt); her brothers, Mitt, Floyd, Travis, Dick and Milam Fowler; her daughter Helen Mellard; and her son-in-law Courtney Mellard.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Mary Walker (Judson) of Kress, TX, Molly Dabier (Kevin) of Beorne, TX, Dana Sparks (Stanley) of Fort Stockton, TX and Damon Mellard (Rachel) of Marfa, TX; her great grandchildren, Tizzy, James Walker, Chicora, Marissa, Cianna, Jeremiah Dabier, Sophia, Autumn, Stanley, Samuel, Isaac Sparks, Thomas, Aiden, Travis, Jacob and Dalleigh Mellard; her spouse Ordia Gilbert; her sons, Jady Gilbert (Janell) of Blackwell, TX and Franklin Gilbert of Denton, TX; and her grandchildren, Jeff Gilbert, Jayna Hunter (Tommy), Jody Gilbert, J'Lynn, Bradley, Corey, Kinnaree Gilbert, Marcy and Randy Campos. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
