He was predeceased by: his parent Lovie Lee Barnes; his stepfather Robert Paris; and his siblings, Donna Jean Sloan, Veronica Slaughter, Kirby Kay Paris, Kathleen Sloan and Sonny Paris.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Key Barnes; his children, Linda Diane Jones (Danny) of Garden Ridge, Texas, Michael D. Key (Nancy) of Johnston, SC, Mattie Rowland of West Columbia, SC and Wendell Maurice Barnes (Ayeesha) of Cibolo, Texas; his grandchildren, Dana M. Jones, Deborah L. Hodges, Alexander Rowland, Devinn Rowland and Roman Barnes; and his great grandchildren, Kamarie Crawford, Kyra Crawford, Christian Hodges and Chelsea Hodges. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
