He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Tom Sheerin and Mary Sheerin; his wife Betsy; his children, James Sheerin (Norma Juarez), Cynthia Sheerin and Stacey Lesieur (Rob); his grandchildren, Chas Thomas (Anabell), Katy Kent (Chris), Ava Lesieur and Andrew Lesieur; and his pet Presley Rose.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of James to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
