He was predeceased by: his father Jack Mayes; and his grandfather Welborn. He is survived by: his wife Tina Trotter of Savoy; his children, Jordyn Mayes of Pennsylvania, Austin Mayes (Cierra) of Arkansas and Jacklynn Mayes of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Finnegan, Sawyer, Freyja, Madelyn, Brooklyn and Bubba; his mother Saundra Welborn (Welborn) of Texas; his siblings, Mark Mayes (Pam) of Wisconsin, Cheri Boyd (James) of Texas and Patty Davis (Mikey) of Texas; his sisters-in-law, Amber Finley (Nick) and Tracy Schultz; and his mother-in-law Sandra Plafcan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
