He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Lopez Gonzales and Rafael Gonzales, Sr.; his wife Mary Gonzales; and his siblings, Joel Lopez, Richard Lopez, Irene Trinidad, Olinda Silguero, Lilia Flores and Minerva Falcon.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Gonzales (Gail), Peggy Schultz (Frank), Debbie Ingalsbe (Garry) and Virginia Jeannie Martinez (Victor); his grandchildren, Peggy Lynn (Yung Le), Robbie (Maria Claudia), Yvette, Jeremy, Jessica, Caleb and Gabriela (Cody); his great grandchildren, Thilyn, Kobi, Elliot Louise, Kinsley Rae, Kaeli Jae and Maria Victoria; and also Eleazar Lopez.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Pennington Funeral Home (323 N Comanche St, San Marcos, TX 78666). A prayer was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
The City of San Marcos and the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District also recognized Ralph Gonzales' Nosotros la Gente contributions to the community. In October 2019, Representative Lloyd Doggett, recognized Ralph and his wife Mary & the Gonzales family during Hispanic Heritage week with an award commemorating his lifelong contributions to the community of San Marcos.
