He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Smart and Mabel Smart (Mundt); his sisters, Patty McGregor and Betty Brash-Allshouse; and his siblings-in-law, Roxanne Smart and Herbert Allshouse.
He is survived by: his wife Denise Torvik; his son Peter Smart (Carrie); his grandchildren, Anna and Finn of Overland Park, KS; his son Christopher Smart; his grandsons, Conor and Andrew of Round Rock, TX; and his siblings, Paul Smart (Judy), Bill Smart, Jack Smart (Mary Lou) and Susan Hallen (Dean).
