He was predeceased by: his stepsons, Jose Oscar "Joe" Chapa and Leonardo B. Chapa; his parents, Don Chance and Cris Chance of California; his parents-in-law, Raul S. and Consuelo L Barrera; his brother David Chance; and his brothers-in-law, Raul L. Barrera Jr. and Felix L. Barrera.
He is survived by: his wife Yolanda B. Barfoot; his sisters, Odessa K. Pullins (Don) and Kimberly Huckabee; his sisters-in-law, Diana Bazan (Rodolfo) and Lucy McCabe (Scott); and his grandchildren, Jose Oscar Chapa Jr., Geoff Chapa, Victoria Chapa Serna (Danny) and Leonardo B. Chapa II (Alexis). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
