He was predeceased by: his parents, Ricardo Vela and Virginia Gomez; and his sister Maria Inez Castillo. He is survived by: his wife Rosa S. Vela; his children, Raul Vela, Jr. and Michelle Vela (Donnie Tollett); his siblings, Rey Gomez (Criss), Ricardo Vela (Judy), Cynthia Nunez and Angie Vela; and his grandchildren, Bernie, Frederick and Jonathan. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, and many numerous nieces and nephews.
