He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Aguilar and Delia Torres; his parents-in-law, Idalia and Heriberto Ramirez; and his sister Rosa Linda Austin.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Zuniga Aguilar of San Diego, Texas; his children, Jose Luis Aguilar Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joe Luis Aguilar of San Diego, Texas, Joseph M. Aguilar of Lufkin, Texas, Rey Gonzalez (Veronica) of Calallen, Texas, Michael Gonzalez (Kendall) of Alice, Texas, Cynthia Silva of Kingsville and Lupita Liguez (Rolando) of Hewitt, Texas; and his siblings, Raul Rivera (Gloria) of Wichita, KS, Pete Aguilar (Judy) of Dallas, Texas, Lupita Kendall (Mike) of Wichita, KS, Dalia Hernandez (Frank) of Colorado, Sylvia Garcia of Kerrville, Texas, Delia Guzman (Lazaro) of Freer, Texas, Yolanda Rivera of Kerrville, Texas and Sofia Ketcham (Paul) of Boerne, Texas. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his parrot, Chico; numerous nieces and nephews.
