He was predeceased by: his mother Mamie Brooks; and his nephew Jesus Gonzalez Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Brooks of Houston, Texas; his father Howard H. "Tap" Brooks of Houston, Texas; his siblings, Amy Gonzalez (Jesus) of San Diego, Texas and Harris Brooks; his stepsiblings, Krystal Morrow and William Morrow; his niece Erica Martinez (Arnulfo "Nuffy" Gonzalez); and his nephew Leroy Gonzalez. He is also survived by son and brother and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
