He was predeceased by: his parents, Margarito Maldonado Sr. and Consuelo Espinoza Maldonado; his son Manuel Rolando Maldonado; and his siblings, Concepcion Maldonado, Manuel Maldonado Sr., Alfredo Maldonado Sr., Teofilo Maldonado, Emma Vidal, Elma M. Luera, Estella Lara and Gilma De La Rosa.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Elena Maldonado of San Diego; his children, Gilberto Maldonado Jr. (Dora) of Mission, Orlando Maldonado (Lynda) of San Diego, Moses Maldonado (Lisa) of Alice, Aaron Maldonado (Frances) of Alice, Hilda Maldonado, Monica Rangel (Marcus) of Alice, Miriam Heuston (Michael) of Richmond and Damaris Maldonado (Gabriel Perez) of San Diego; his brothers, Margarito Maldonado Jr. (Soila) of San Diego and Ruben Maldonado (Maria Rosa) of San Diego; his brother-in-law Nasario De La Rosa of Bryan; his sister Elodia Garza (Ray) of San Diego; and his sister-in-law Chela Maldonado of Freer, Texas..
