He was predeceased by: his parents, Mauricio Chavez and Guadalupe Vega; his siblings, Roberto Chavez, Rogelio Chavez, Reymundo Chavez and Maria Leonilla Cortez; and his siblings-in-law, Antonio Hernandez, Juan Blanco, Casilda Chavez, Bonnie Chavez and Carol Sue Chavez.
He is survived by: his wife Alicia Chavez; his daughters, Christina Chavez-Covarrubias (Mario), Bonnie Ordiway (Michael), Betty Restine (Matthew "Doc"), Becky Chavez, Anna Rocha (Joseph), Mary Lou Kuehne (Dennis) and Nora; his grandchildren, Malik, Jamal, Rainey Restine, Lori Martinez, Alycia, Zeliah, Isha Webster, Odalis Baxter, Marissa, Jozephine, Noah Rocha, Jason, Robin, Jake, Rika, Paris, Pearl Kuehne, David, Raymond and Ashley Diaz; his great grandchild Lydia Diaz; his siblings, Francisca Hernandez, Guadalupe Villarreal, Josefina Blanco and Ricardo (Maria); and his sister-in-law Hijina Chavez.
