She was predeceased by: her son Juan F. Gomez; her parents, Isaac Martinez and Cecilia Martinez; her in-laws, Luciano and Maria Gomez; and her brother Raul Martinez.
She is survived by: her husband Francisco Gomez; her children, Alma Sylvia Garcia (Arnold), Nelda Cruz (Enrique "Henry"), Lourdes Gomez and Javier Gomez (Norma); her grandchildren, Ariel Vela (J. D.), Clarissa Gomez, Noah Gomez, Nicholas Gomez and Nathan Gomez; and her siblings, Isaac Martinez (Delia), Olga Moreno, Abundia Jalomo (Adan) and San Juana Thompson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
When Elvia began to show signs of Alzheimer's it was difficult for her to continue helping with the church.
