He was predeceased by: his father Myron Gleason; his uncle Gus; his wife Lois Jean Gleason; his brother James Vellema; his daughter-in-law Paula Gleason; and his son Walter Andrew Gleason Sr. of San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by: his sisters, LaVonne Dykstra of Bigelow, Minn. and Linda "Lynn" Brooker (Lucius) of Aurora, Colo.; his children, Barbara Jean Cruz (James) of Bandera, Texas and Michael Duane Gleason of Natalia; his nephew Roger Burton of San Antonio, Texas.; his grandchildren, Michelle Weitzel, Jason Alan Qualls, Samantha Lynette Gleason, Scott Andrew Gleason, Walter Andrew Gleason Jr., Timothy, Michael Gleason, Devon Gleason, Brandon Gleason, Sean Gleason and Justin Gleason; and his great grandchildren, Cheyenne Weitzel, Kasey Weitzel, David Weitzel, Lexton Gleason, Finn Chetwood, Cameron Conway, Cayden Kammer, Aylah Stasey and Elliott Gleason.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Castle Ridge Mortuary West (8008 Military Dr W, San Antonio, TX 78227). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209).
