He was predeceased by: his parents, Alejandro Mata and Carmen Leal. He is survived by: his wife Mary Grace Mata; his children, Deborah Trevino (Troy) and Ruben L. Mata Jr. (Rose); his grandchildren, Devon Mata, Joel Trevino and Joshua Trevino; and his brother Gilbert Mata (Gloria). He is also survived by relatives as well as his many friends.
