He is survived by: his wife Kathleen "Kay" Gaines; his daughter Anitra Henning (Parnell); and his siblings, Fred M. Gaines, Enola M. Gaines and David L. Gaines. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the O. J. Carter Memorial Chapel (601 Center St, San Antonio, TX 78202). A burial was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209).
