He was predeceased by: his parents, Olivia W. Laurel and Humberto R. Laurel Sr.; his brothers, Humberto R. Laurel Jr., Hector E. Laurel, Ezequiel P. Laurel and Amando "Dave" Laurel; his sisters-in-law, Anita M. Laurel and Kathleen Heisse Laurel; and his niece Audrey Laurel.
He is survived by: his brother Joe; his caregivers, Magdalena Torres, Teresa Anguiano, Maritza Sanchez and Gabriela Sanchez; his wife Mary Heisse Laurel; his daughters, Kristina Laurel-Cacek (Bryce) and Monica Hall (Bill); his grandson Matthew R. Cacek; his children, Sophia M. Hall and William N. Hall IV; his siblings, Diana Laurel Pentecost and Jose; and his sisters-in-law, Bebe Laurel and Frances Laurel.
A rosary will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (1114 Willow St, San Antonio, TX 78208). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM and on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, a heartfelt memorial contribution may be made to the Bright Focus Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease Research or the Salvation Army which Rene supported every holiday season as he rang the bell.
