He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kavinsky and Veronica Kavinsky; his sisters, Kaye, Ethel and Jeanne; and his grandson Cory.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Butler Kavinsky; his daughters, Laura L. (Gregory E. VandenDries) of Los Gatos, CA, Lynne M., Kavin Kelp of Austin, TX, Lisa J. (Joseph L. Hooter) of Boerne, TX and Jennifer K. (Matt B. Hannifin) of Fort Collins, CO; his grandchildren, Justin D. Hooter, Kendra J. Hooter, Maya L. Kelp, Dominique A. VandenDries (Nikka) and Nicolette M. VandenDries (Chloe); his great grandchild Annalee Faith; and his brothers-in-law, James Butler (Norma) of Killeen, TX and Michael Butler of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cancer Therapy Research Center – UT Health Science Center (SA) or the American Heart Association.
