He was predeceased by: his parents, Elroy Wilson and Johnnie Mae Wilson; and his wife Frances Wilson. He is survived by: his brothers, Woodrow Wilson (Rosa) and John Lee Wilson (Thelma); and his children, Donald Hines (Shantel), Angela Marble (Steve), Ernest Wilson, Jr. and LaKeba Allen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
