He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ramon and Isabel Torres; his sisters, Esperanza R. Perez (Hope) and Geneva Zamarripa; and his grandchildren, John Albert Chavarria and Stephanie Ann Chavarria.
He is survived by: his wife Minerva G. Ramon; his sister Elvia Carrasco; and his children, Joe Chavarria (Norma Gloria Chavarria), Abel Chavarria, Sylvia Miranda (Nick Miranda), John Garza, David L. Ramon III (Virginia Ornelas Ramon), Germaine A. Ramon, Joseph P. Ramon and Lisa Medina. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
