He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara Ann Shook; and his brother Robert Alexander. He is survived by: his father Arlin Shook; his wife Chari Vandever Shook; his son Stephen Shook; and his brother Wayne Shook (Angela).

He was also credited for creating and implementing innovative ways to utilize supplies during the COVID pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ELF LOUISE an organization Butch regularly volunteered with and held close to his heart.
