He is survived by: his wife Caroline Haynes Carpenter; his former wife Jamie Bowen Carpenter; his son Chris Carpenter (Laurie); his grandsons, Randy, Zachary and Tim Carpenter (Peggy); his great grandchildren, Toby, Trey and Jacie (Caleb Russell); his sister Binnie Carpenter Summers (Millard); and his nephews, Steve and Mike.
