Rick Rhoades wrote a sympathy message

“Phil was the best Offensive Line coach I ever had the opportunity to work with. He certainly knew his stuff when it came to coaching the Offensive Line, but the thing that I admired about Phil was the relationship that he developed with the players. All of the players loved Coach Tuck. The offensive lineman particularly loved him because he understood what it took to play that position, and he went out of his way to make those kids feel special. He was also loved by the Cameron Community.”
