He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Burney and Beulah Burney; his son Jamie Burney; and his siblings, Alvin Burney, John Burney, Myrtle McClelland, Martha McGary, Charlene Burney and Garland Burney.
He is survived by: his children, Marla Burney-Clark of Bandera, Russell Burney (Teresa) of Dove Creek, Lisa Hicks (Steve) of Azle, Donna Burney of San Angelo, Pamela Daniels of San Angelo, Calvin Joe Burney, Sr. of San Angelo, Amanda Burney of San Angelo and Ashley Burney of San Angelo; his siblings, Jackie Burney of San Angelo, Jerry Burney of San Angelo and Dora Neil Watkins of San Angelo; and his grandchildren, Ashtyn, Rhyder and Byntlee. He is also survived by 42 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
