She was predeceased by: her parents, John William and Francine Bertha Matthews (McCaskill); her brother John Williams Matthews Jr. (Bill); her stepfather William Stevens; and her close friend Chester Robinson.
She is survived by: her children, Tina Slaton (Victor), Kevin Black (Barbara) and Bryan Hoitt; her stepdaughters, Mandy Green and Ruth Ann Malnar; her daughter-in-law Julie Rider; her sisters, Nellie Holloman (Robert), Billie Jean Stevens, Laurie Johnson (Henry) and Lila Davis (Joe); and her friend Larry Medlin. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
