He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Canales and Espetacion Canales; and his brother Alfredo. He is survived by: his wife Jan Canales of Salado; his children, Burl Hagler (Jessica) of Round Rock, Louis R. Canales Jr. of Austin, Eddie Canales (Nicole) of Pattison, Diana Mosca (Mike) and Cynthia Canales Magestro (Robert); his grandchildren, Nicole Elizabeth, Michael Christian, Sydney Nicole, Zachary Edward, Matthew Coleson, Jack Lloyd, Raul Javier and Newton Garland; his sister Yolanda Rios; and his brothers-in-law, Ramiro Rios and Johnny Bratton (Jimmie) of Salado.
