He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Everett Melton and Neva Edgelee Moore; and his siblings, Kenneth Cornell Melton, Weldon Willis Melton, James Edward Matkin, Huel Rodger Melton and Laona Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Gail Evans; his daughter Jessica Melton; his granddaughter Brittany Clark (Tori Clark); and his great grandchild Boston James Clark.
