He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Clevdon and Mary Edith Etta Gay (Madewell); his grandfathers, Henry Madewell and William Douglas Gay; and his siblings, Troy Edward Gay, Loyd Gay, Herbert Lyman Gay, Ella May Thomason and Lorene Cleste Ballard.
He is survived by: his children, Lorrie Aycox, Sherion Pope and Jerry Gay; his siblings, Doreen Romines, Roy Lee and Willa Faye Burton; and his sister-in-law Laura Cannaday. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
