She was predeceased by: her parents, Tead Helms and Ora Lee Helms; and her siblings, Johnny Helms and Rowena Helms Johnson. She is survived by: her former husband Billy Joe Averitt; her husband Herbert Owens, Jr.; her daughter Elaine McDowell; her son-in-law David Harley McDowell of Plano, TX; her grandsons, Michael Gregory Webb, David Wayne McDowell, Jeffrey Parrish McDowell and John Michael McDowelll; and her great grandchildren, Shannon Webb, Micah Jean McDowell and Matthew McDowell.
