He was predeceased by: his parents, Finus Edward Mitchell and Mamie Estelle Fuller; his brother Charles Edward Mitchell; his sister-in-law Shirley; and his niece Pamela.

He is survived by: his children, Kindall Kay Mitchell (Laura Luna) of Dallas and Scott Evan Mitchell (Teresa) of Sachse; his pet Annie; his spouse Carelyn Mitchell; his grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth, Carson Evan and Ryan Curtis; his niece Kelly Herrman; and his nephews, Charlie, Michael and Doug.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association in memory and honor of Curtis Ray.
