He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Contreras and Concepcion Ortiz; and his daughter Gloria Valdez. He is survived by: his wife Angelita Munoz; his children, Elsa Moellendorf of Kerrville, Oscar Contreras (Marie) of Sabinal and Santiago Contreras, Jr. of Sabinal; and his siblings, Elujia Reyes of Sabinal, Linda Gonzales of San Antonio, Olivia Barroso of Gainsville, Isabel Contreras of Sabinal, Mauricio Contreras of Sabinal and Lupe Contreras of Sabinal. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. and numerous nieces and nephews.
