It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darrell Patrick Matej of Sabinal, Texas, who passed away on March 24, 2023, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ida Mae (Burleson) and Louis Charles Matej; his wife Carolyn Grace Turner; and his siblings, Patsy Campbell and Leon Matej.

He is survived by: his children, Lynda Gleason (Jeremy) of Delta, Amanda Schmidt (Justin) of Sabinal and James Matej of Victoria; his siblings, Delores West (Jack) of Sabinal, Barbara Webb of Plano and George Matej (Kandy) of Sheridan, Texas; and his grandchildren, Nicklaus Gleason, Kenneth Gleason, Hunter Schmidt, Brazos Schmidt, Mason Matej and Abigail Matej.
