Don Clark Barnes Obituary
Don "Tortuga" Barnes, 82, of Rule, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rule Cemetery in Rule, Texas under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford, TX. Don was born July 7, 1938 in Rule, TX to William Truman Barnes and Tommie Faye Barnes.
He moved to Casa Grande, Arizona as a teenager where he met and married his first wife Saundra. They eventually settled in Mesa, Arizona and went on to have 5 children. Don owned and operated his own roofing business for over 20 years until he retired. He relocated to Cedar Park, Texas where he lived until 2003 when he returned to Rule.
Don was an avid motorcycle rider, attending a multitude of bike rallies where he won hundreds of 1st placer trophies for his bike "Mighty Mouse". Don's love and passion for riding was evident in the many trips he and his biker buddies embarked upon around the country, but his favorite trips were to Ruidoso, New Mexico. Don had a deep love for his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Don is survived by his former spouse, Saundra Hitchcock of Mesa, Arizona, 5 children, Vicki Newton of Mesa, Arizona, Kevin Barnes and wife Miriam of Hamlin, Texas, Rhonda Herrera and Julie Schlechter of Mesa, Arizona, Robin Barnes of Mesa, Arizona and Leslie Burns of Rule, Texas, 6 grandchildren: Danny Moreno of Gilbert, Arizona, Stephanie Moreno of Gilbert, Arizona, Wesley Barnes of Mesa, Arizona, and Steven, Dustin, and Ivan Prak of Hamlin, Texas.
Don also had 3 great grandchildren, Julian and Jaren Molina of Gilbert Arizona and baby Ella Prak of Hamlin, Texas.
