He was predeceased by: his parents, Eliga Alexander Mitchell and Mary Strain Mitchell; his wife Lora Helen Black; and his brother Ted Mitchell. He is survived by: his daughters, Tina Florence (Joe Florence) and Lorri Ann Monk (Frosty Hardison); his grandsons, Matt Florence (Sarah), Josh Florence, Zach Florence (Amanda), Nick Florence (Rachel), Luke Florence (Lindsay), Robert Monk (Merissa) and Andrew Monk; and his niece Ann Ticknor. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.

Willie served in many different capacities at FUMC Garland and the FUMC Garland Foundation.
