She was predeceased by: her parents, Oldridge Carlton and Virginia Azalea Smith; her husband Rudolph "Rudy" John Cernoch; her stepdaughter Sara Wright; her son Doug Gatlin; and her brother L. T. Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Dean Gatlin (Tonya), Denice Holly, Lucie Armstrong (Keith), Julia Kellum (Paul), Charles Cernoch (Debbie) and Rudolph "Rusty" Cernoch II; and her sister Mary Jo Thomas.
