He was predeceased by: his parents, C. C. Carter and Clara Morrow Carter. He is survived by: his sons, Darrell Carter (Donna), David Carter and Jerry Carter (Vera); his wife Darlene Smith; his sisters-in-law, Mary Carter, Janice Smith Brown (Duane), Frankie Young and Sally Murff; his grandchildren, Aaron Howton, Lacie Valadez (Richie), Zoe Carter and Jac Carter; his great grandchildren, Analeigh Valadez and Vivian Valadez; and his friends, Floyd Garcia Jr. and Bobby Gruben. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
