He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Vernon Tanton, Sr. and Zora Tanton (Hilburn); his siblings, Margrette Fouse, Ruth Archer, Morris "Billy" Tanton, Wayne Tanton and Jerry Tanton; and his daughter-in-law Sharon Tanton.
He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Louise Tanton (Ethridge); his sons, Billy Tanton (Kelli), Larry Tanton and Keith Tanton; his granddaughters, Stephanie Smith (Doug), Wendy Tanton and Jessica Bates (Kelly); his great grandchildren, Grant Godwulf (KelseaMae), Sarah Fain (Baily), Ashtin Cortez (Rudy), Madison Tanton, Logan Tew, Kaydence Roundtree and Makena Bates; his sister Linda Causey (James); and his great great grandchildren, Bryleigh, Raiden, Noah, Ellie, Silas, Kylie and Aurora. He is also survived by children, and a lineage of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall (2500 TX-66, Rockwall, TX 75087). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Rest Haven Memorial Park (2500 TX-66, Rockwall, TX 75087).
