He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Jesus C. Barrera; his children, Valine Carrillo Barrera of Rocksprings and Elias Samora Barrera Jr. of Rocksprings; his grandchildren, Lydia Gonzales, Moses Falcon, Austin Barrera, Ericah Gonzales and Hyzaiah Gonzales; his siblings, Alicia Avila, Eddy Van Winkle, Peggy Taylor, Rick Van Winkle and Tommy Van Winkle; his great grandchildren, Eli Gonzales and Edan Arispe; his uncle Eloy Samora Sr.; his mother Janie Van Winkle (Lydia Carrillo Barrera); his siblings, Gail Van Winkle, Mike Van Winkle and Bill Van Winkle; and his niece Lauren Ashley Taylor. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
