This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away" J.H. "Chuck" McCaleb of Rocksprings, Texas passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by family at his home on the Double Cross Ranch in Rocksprings. He was born in Del Rio, Texas on August 9, 1949, to Herbert Henry McCaleb and Jean Merck McCaleb. His passions were his kids, dogs, and horses. He was a hard working man with many accomplishments in the oil field, all across the world. Chuck was a man that once you met, he'd be impossible to forget. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Brenna McCaleb of Rocksprings, Megan McCaleb of Seguin, Kyle Wanjura of Lytle, and Cheyenne Williamson and husband Jack of Devine; son-in-law, Jeff Nesbit of Kyle; grandchildren, Nathanael McCaleb-Quick, Ava McCaleb, Ryann McCaleb, Haegan Owens, and Addyson Owens; mother, Jean Hall of Uvalde; siblings, Susan Fielden, Marta (Bill) Harrelson, Myra (Larry) Hidalgo, Carrol (Vickie) Collins, Herbert (Jane) McCaleb, Jr., Sissy Clarke, Steven (Candy) McCaleb, and Frank (Stacy) McCaleb; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends and his Red Heeler, Shivers He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert McCaleb, step mother, Elieen McCaleb, step father, Dean Hall, brothers, Garry Merritt and James Gerald "Jimmy" McCaleb, and brother-in-law's, Ron Fielden and Bill Clarke. Pallbearers include Kyle Wanjura, Scooter McCaleb, Steve McCaleb, Frank McCaleb, Dink Collins, Bill Harrelson, and Jeff Nesbit. Honorary pallbearers include Chris Miller, Nathanael McCaleb-Quick, Langtry Hubbard, Darrell Tucker, and Ron Skinner. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15th, 2018, at the Vance Baptist Church, with Pastor Jim O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow in the Vance Cemetery. Everyone welcome to attend a lunch at 1:00 p.m. at the Jailhouse Bar and Grill following services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wylden Memorial Fund or the Rocksprings Horse Club.
