He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Haynes and Loretta Zelner Haynes; his sisters, Gladys (Midge), Virginia Reineke and Sara Putman; and his former wife Harriett Haynes.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Garcia Haynes of Rockport, Texas; and his children, Stephen Haynes (Claire) of Rockport, Texas, John Haynes (Denise) of Lawrence, Kansas and Elizabeth Gossett (Ned) of Pleasanton, Texas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributing in his memory to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
