He is survived by: his wife Alice Barrera of Roby; his sons, Jose Maria Barrera III of Snyder and Ray Barrera (Mercedes) of Lampasas; his stepson Blake Montemayor (Marie) of Killeen; and his children, Christian Joe Barrera Jr. of Sweetwater, Sasha Barrera of Snyder, Misty Barrera of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Norma Boakye (Randy) of Dallas and Sheila Bert (Nick) of Snyder. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nephews.
